Day 2 – The Panama Canal (Miraflores Visitor Center)
(B, L)
Today our adventure will start at 08:00 AM on a Full Day City Tour.

We’ll start our tour visiting The Miraflores Visitor Center, where visitors have the opportunity to observe transiting vessels from a distance of only a few meters and learn firsthand about the various operations of the Panama Canal, the history of its construction, its participation in the world markets, and the importance of its watershed.

Later we’ll go to the Causeway of Amador for lunch and enjoy the beautiful views of the city from this area.
Back to our Hotel.
Day 3 – Casco Antiguo & Panama City
(B, L)
Today we’ll visit the Casco Antiguo and enjoy walking along alleys and colonial buildings, ruins and streets of stone, and museums and antique churches, where three styles of construction are combined: Spanish, French, and Italian.

We’ll do a Chocolate Tasting activity and learn about Panamanian cacao.

To freshen up a little, we will try a delicious raspao (a very common dessert in Panama, prepared by street vendors throughout the country. It is the Panamanian version of a snow cone: shaved ice sprinkled with flavored syrups such as strawberry, passion fruit and lemon; topped with condensed milk, honey or milkshake) or a delicious fruit paleta (frozen popsicle).

Our tour will also include a visit to the Panama Fish Market and we will taste delicious ceviche. We will also visit Merca Panama, the fruit and grain market. Here delight yourself with the fruits of the seasons in Panama, such as: pineapples, oranges, papaya, or watermelons.

Back to our Hotel.
Day 4 & 5 – Cocle Province, La Briyeka
(B, L)
La Briyeka is an agritourism farm located in the province of Cocle, approximately 2 and a half hrs from the city. On our first day we will do exciting activities such as hiking, cane milling, junta de embarre *, and we’ll even have time to swim in the river!
Junta de embarre - an age-old Panamanian tradition in which a community comes together to collectively build a home for a newly married couple out of barro (clay/mud). "Embarre" refers to the basic element of construction which is mud; formed of clay with water and is constantly stepped on by all participants until it acquires the necessary consistency to stick it to the walls. Other materials used to build the house are: wood/bamboo & dry grass.
Note: Junta de embarre is available for groups (10 people or more)-if we have less people we’ll do an alternate activity like hiking and more time in the river.

On our second day we’ll do a Chiva tour around Penonomé Town. A chiva is an artisan rustic bus used in rural areas. The buses are varied and characterized by being painted colorfully. Most have a ladder to the rack on the roof which is also used for carrying merchandise. We’ll make a stop at a local artisan market, a waterfall, and have lunch in town.
